Earlier this year, Aer Lingus, the national flag carrier of Ireland, launched its new Dublin to Denver route.
This direct service now operates four times a week with an Airbus A330 aircraft. During the inaugural flight on May 17, 2024, Aer Lingus captured the experience in the cockpit, documenting this historic journey. The airline has since released the video.
The clip begins with Captain Frank Lawless introducing himself and First Officers Kristopher Worrall and Anne Kirwan for the Dublin-Denver flight. First Officer Worrall is then shown inspecting the aircraft on the ground.
Once all checks are complete, the scene shifts to the cabin, where Senior Cabin Crew member Mary Keane makes an announcement to the passengers. The footage then returns to the cockpit, capturing the final preparations for takeoff from Dublin.
Next, viewers get an exclusive look at takeoff from inside the cockpit, featuring the Captain’s interactions with Air Traffic Control. The cameras utilize various unique angles to capture the moments during takeoff.
As the flight continues over the Atlantic, we see discussions between the Captain and First Officers. First Officer Worrall uses his tablet to explain the arrival into Denver. The cameras then capture the descent, approach, and landing from inside the flight deck, along with an external shot of the Airbus A330 landing at Denver International Airport.
“Important milestone” for Aer Lingus
On the day of the inaugural flight, Susanne Carberry, Chief Customer Officer of Aer Lingus, expressed her excitement about the launch, highlighting its significance for the airline and its expansion across the pond.
“We are thrilled to commence our Denver route today, another important milestone for Aer Lingus to drive forward our North American expansion,” Carberry explained.
“The new service is also of huge importance to the Denver region as Aer Lingus is the only European carrier that flies nonstop to Ireland and offers convenient onward connections to the UK and Europe via our hub here at Dublin Airport,” she added.
