The SkyTeam alliance was founded in June 2000 and currently has 20 members.
The alliance is one of the three major airline alliances in the world. Airlines ultimately become members of alliances to gain key benefits such as codeshare agreements and increased market coverage. So, which airlines are members of the SkyTeam alliance?
The founding members of the SkyTeam alliance are Aeroméxico, Air France, Delta Air Lines, and Korean Air. Nine months after the SkyTeam alliance was formed, Czech Airlines became a member. September 2004 saw KLM become an official member. Two airlines joined the alliance in 2007: Air Europa and Kenya Airways.
Vietnam Airlines and TAROM joined in 2010, with China Eastern Airlines and China Airlines becoming members in 2011.
